At Candle-lite, we believe every flame tells a story. This month, as we celebrate Juneteenth, we reflect on the enduring legacy of freedom, resilience, and the ongoing journey toward equity and inclusion for all.

What Is Juneteenth?

Juneteenth, celebrated each year on June 19th, marks a pivotal moment in American history. On this day in 1865—over two years after the Emancipation Proclamation—enslaved African Americans in Galveston, Texas were finally informed that slavery had ended. This delayed announcement symbolized both the triumph of freedom and the painful reminder of the systemic delays in justice.

Juneteenth is more than a historical milestone; it’s a living testament to the strength and spirit of the Black community. It’s a day of remembrance, reflection, and joy—honoring culture, heritage, and the unyielding pursuit of equality.

Lighting the Path Toward Inclusion

Candles have long symbolized hope, healing, and transformation. For us, each wick we light represents our commitment to creating a space that celebrates all people, regardless of race, gender, background, or identity.

We know that words matter—but actions matter more. That’s why inclusion is not just a value on paper; it’s embedded in how we hire, partner, and serve. We are intentional about supporting economic empowerment and representation.

We are learning, listening, and growing. Whether that’s by attending local Juneteenth celebrations, supporting Black-owned businesses, or simply starting conversations with family and friends—every small act creates ripples of change.
